He has managed or participated in over 100 Rotary humanitarian grant projects worldwide. Enjoy fellowship and recognition at a high quality dinner event.
Keith Axtell has been a leader in organizing international humanitarian projects through Rotary, including microcredit programs. He has managed or participated in over 100 Rotary humanitarian grant projects worldwide. His eight microcredit projects in Latin America have helped over 3,000 poor people establish or expand their own small businesses. The total value of these projects is over $600,000.
Keith is highly experienced in Rotary International’s humanitarian programs. He is currently the head of District 5150’s Technical Resource Network for Global Grants, which advises and assists local Rotary clubs with Foundation projects. He served as Chair of the District 5150 Grants Committee for five years, and continues to serve on that committee and District 5150 International Service Committee. He also organizes and presents Global Grant program training annually for Rotary clubs in District 5150.
Keith Axtell had an extensive career as a manager and government executive in the fields of community development and housing. For fifteen years, he served as the Director of Housing for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the western United States. During his career, Keith has also been in charge of the federal Public Housing program for Northern California and Hawaii. Prior to that, he was a consultant to the California State Legislature. Keith also served as a national Board member for the American Society for Public Administration, and was President of the ASPA Bay Area Chapter. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of California Berkeley
Keith is Past President of the Rotary Club of Marin Evening, and has two adult children. Keith and his wife PDG Holly Axtell are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation and members of the Bequest Society. His Rotary classification is Community Development.
